Dingtone can route internet calls to supported mobile and landline numbers, but “free calls to any number” is not an accurate description of its pricing. A useful comparison starts with the destination, the type of call and the cost shown before connecting.
Check Android availability before adding money
The old Dingtone Google Play link did not return a listing in our India-region check. That result does not establish worldwide removal. If the official Google Play listing is unavailable to you, choose a supported Play Store option rather than installing an APK. Confirm country and device support before purchasing credits. This guide is based on published documentation, not a completed test call.
Which Dingtone calls may cost credits?
Under Dingtone’s published terms, calls within its own network may be free, while calls outside that network can require payment or credits. The terms also describe rounding voice calls up to whole minutes and charging a connection fee for connected calls.
The official rates page gives sample rates in Dingtone credits. A credit is an in-app unit, not automatically one rupee, one dollar or one minute. Check the current rate for the actual destination and how much your credit purchase costs in your checkout currency.
For example, comparing only the per-minute rate overlooks any connection charge. Several short connected calls can have a different total cost from one longer call. Include your internet or roaming-data cost when comparing the result with a normal carrier call.
A practical setup checklist
- Confirm that the recipient’s country and number type are supported. A mobile number, landline and special-service number may not have the same eligibility.
- Use the official app and complete the registration process shown to you. Do not assume Wi-Fi calling removes account-verification requirements.
- Review the destination rate, any connection charge and your available balance before dialing. Save the purchase receipt if you add money.
- Use a stable connection and allow microphone access for the call. If audio fails, check the microphone and connection before repeatedly redialing.
- If you choose to try a short call, ask a trusted contact first and inspect the resulting balance change before relying on longer calls.
Yolla is a separate option for ordinary phone numbers
Yolla: International Calling on Google Play had a live listing when checked. It offers calls to supported mobiles and landlines using an internet connection. The recipient does not need the app for this type of telephone call. Calling a regular number normally uses paid credit; it is not an unlimited free replacement for Dingtone.
Yolla’s official FAQ explains phone-number verification and a displayed per-minute rate. Calls between Yolla users are free of the app’s calling charge, with internet costs still possible. The service uses your personal number as caller ID rather than supplying a new private number.
Check the rate for your intended number before buying credit. Review optional automatic top-ups if you want to control repeated purchases. Availability of a public listing does not prove that every account, destination or network can complete a call.
When to choose another calling method
If both people have internet access and use the same messaging app, app-to-app calling may satisfy the need without purchasing international telephone minutes. If the recipient only has a normal telephone, compare a supported paid internet-calling route with your carrier’s rate. Keep a normal emergency-calling method available: Dingtone’s terms exclude emergency calls.
How to Uninstall Dingtone or Yolla
Review any rented-number plan, subscription or automatic top-up before removing a calling app. Then open Settings → Apps, select Dingtone or Yolla and tap Uninstall. Cancel a Google Play subscription in Google Play subscriptions; app removal does not stop its renewal.
