Private number calling changes what the recipient sees; it should not be treated as a promise of anonymity. UnCall advertises calls that hide your personal number and use a credit balance. Before relying on it, check the destination price, what appears on the receiving phone and how the service handles your information.
This is a guide based on the official listing and developer documents, not a hands-on call-quality test. We have not verified caller-ID behaviour, call completion or credit deductions on a device. Those limits matter when deciding whether to pay.
What the UnCall listing actually says
The official Google Play listing identifies the app as UnCall: Private Number Calling, by Billionaire By 25, with package com.mhvmedia.anycall. It shows ads and in-app purchases. The developer describes VoIP calls using private or disposable caller identities, with credits earned through rewarded advertising or purchased. These are developer claims, not independently tested results.
The listing explicitly says the service is not completely free. Do not interpret a free install or a promotional credit balance as unlimited calling. Check the price displayed inside the app for your destination before starting a paid call; this article does not quote an unverified per-minute rate.
Three different needs that are easy to confuse
Hiding your personal number: your aim is to avoid displaying your usual number to a recipient. Verify the receiving screen with someone who has agreed to help before using the service for an important conversation.
Having a number people can call back: ask whether the service provides a stable incoming number, how long you keep it and whether replies are supported. An outgoing-call claim alone does not establish those features.
Keeping a conversation private: consider who operates the service, what data is retained and who can access it. A hidden caller ID does not answer those questions. Do not assume the product supports confidential professional conversations simply because its name includes “private”.
Privacy policy: what to read before signing up
The developer’s privacy policy says it may request information such as a name and email address. It describes error logs that can include an IP address, device details and usage timing, and names third-party services including AdMob and Firebase products. It also says service providers may access information for their work and does not guarantee absolute security.
That policy is a reason to read beyond the marketing description. Decide whether the stated collection fits your purpose, and ask support about retention or deletion if the answer is unclear. An “encrypted in transit” statement, by itself, does not demonstrate end-to-end encryption or prove that no records exist.
A practical check before buying credits
Start with a consenting friend or family member. Explain that you are testing a calling service, make one short call and ask what caller information appeared. Check whether the audio is understandable in both directions and whether the recipient can identify you appropriately. This is a suggested test, not a report of a test we performed.
Compare the balance before and after the call with the price shown beforehand. Read any minimum charge, expiry, failed-call and refund conditions presented in the app. If a condition is missing, ask support before purchasing a larger balance. Keep the order reference if you do pay; never send a payment PIN or login code to support.
A useful decision rule is to stop if the displayed identity, sound quality or charge differs from what you expected. A small test is more informative than a claim of worldwide coverage, and success with one recipient does not establish reliability for every destination.
Permissions and installation
Use the official Play listing above and check the developer and package, rather than installing a similarly named APK from a mirror. Availability and compatibility are determined by your Play account and device; a listing being accessible on the web does not guarantee installation everywhere.
Review each permission when it appears. In Android Settings → Apps → UnCall → Permissions, you can inspect and change access. Google’s permission guide explains that microphone access concerns audio recording and contacts access concerns your address book. Grant access for a feature you understand, and review unrelated requests before continuing.
When this approach may not fit your needs
For a business contact who must recognise you and return your call, prioritise a stable, clearly identified contact method. For an urgent conversation, use a communication method you already know works. Do not make an unfamiliar credit-based app your only way to reach someone important.
If the purpose is simply to avoid sharing your personal mobile number with a marketplace contact, consider whether the marketplace’s own messaging meets that need. Compare the actual requirement—outgoing call, reply, ongoing contact or written record—before choosing a service.
Use calling tools with consent and respect. A privacy feature should not be used to impersonate another person, repeatedly contact someone who has declined contact, or make a recipient believe a call comes from a trusted organisation.
How to Uninstall UnCall
Before removing the app, keep any purchase references and resolve questions about unused credits or account deletion with the developer. Uninstalling is not proof that a remote account or its records have been deleted.
Google’s app removal instructions use Play Store → profile → Manage apps & devices → Manage. Select UnCall and choose Uninstall. Review any recurring payment separately through the provider that bills it.
