Honista is promoted as an Instagram alternative with extra controls; its own website says it is not endorsed by Instagram. We have not installed or audited its APK, and cannot guarantee account safety, anonymous viewing or that every advertised feature works.
What the promotional site claims
The Honista site advertises media downloads, appearance customisation, ad controls and a ghost mode. These are publisher claims, not results of our testing. The site’s rating and download counter should not be presented as an independently verified Google Play rating.
We have not established that every similarly named Honista website distributes the same file. Match the exact source and package rather than trusting the name alone.
Privacy controls do not prove privacy
Hiding a visible read receipt or changing an app icon does not establish what a service logs or what an app can access. We have not verified the site’s encryption claims or its handling of login sessions.
A third-party client used to access your account may handle sensitive account information. A feature list is not a security audit. Equally, we have not established that every Honista file is malicious or that use inevitably results in a ban.
The identifiable Instagram app
The Instagram Play listing identifies package com.instagram.android and Meta Platforms, Inc. in the developer details. It describes sharing, messaging, Stories and Reels. Features may vary by region.
Official distribution does not mean zero data collection. Read the listing’s Data safety information and Meta’s privacy terms rather than assuming any social app is private by default.
If you already entered account credentials
- Open Instagram through its genuine app or website.
- Review login activity and remove sessions you do not recognise.
- Change an exposed or reused password through the real service.
- Confirm that recovery email and phone details are yours.
- Enable two-factor authentication and store recovery information securely.

Use those verified channels if access is lost. Do not pay an unknown person promising account recovery or send them an OTP.
Saving content responsibly
Use the official app’s available save, sharing or download controls as appropriate, and respect the creator’s permissions. An external downloader without a login is not automatically safe or authorised. Do not assume a download button gives permission to repost someone else’s content.
How to Uninstall Honista
Open Android Settings, Apps, select Honista and choose Uninstall. Removal does not necessarily revoke an existing account session; review account access separately.
