If you are looking for a Xender APK, first check whether the official app is available for your device and region. The Xender Google Play link previously used on this page did not load in our India-region check. That does not establish why it is unavailable or whether it is unavailable everywhere.
For the same basic task—sending files between nearby devices—LocalSend is a separate alternative with an available official Play listing. Android’s built-in Quick Share may also be enough. Neither option is a new version of Xender.
What changed in this Xender download guide?
The earlier guide included a third-party APK download and unsupported claims that every file had been manually checked and was virus-free. Those claims have been removed. This page does not provide a verified current Xender APK, promise a fixed transfer speed or recommend disabling Android protections to install one.
LocalSend: a nearby file-transfer alternative
LocalSend is an open-source file-sharing app. Its official download page provides options for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux. Install the appropriate version on both devices; the project describes transfers over a local network without requiring an internet connection.
View LocalSend on Google Play or use the official LocalSend download page for another supported platform. Check your device’s compatibility before installing.
How to send files with LocalSend
- Install and open LocalSend on the sending and receiving devices. Connect them to the same private local network.
- Choose the files you want to send in the sending app. Check the displayed recipient name so you select the correct device.
- Approve the incoming transfer on the receiving device when prompted. Menu labels can vary by version.
- Wait for completion, then open the received files to confirm that they are usable. Keep the originals until you have checked the copies.
Start with a small, non-sensitive file if you are setting it up for the first time. This confirms your own device and network combination without relying on advertised speed figures.
If the other device does not appear
The project’s troubleshooting guidance notes that guest networks or access-point isolation can prevent devices from communicating. Make sure both devices can reach each other on the local network, review local-network permissions where applicable and check whether a VPN blocks local traffic.
Do not disable your firewall or encryption merely to chase a faster transfer. Use the project’s documented troubleshooting steps and allow only the access the app needs. A work, school or public network may deliberately restrict communication between devices.
Quick Share may avoid another installation
On supported Android devices, Quick Share is available through the Share menu. Google’s instructions say to select your content, choose Quick Share, select the nearby recipient and have them accept. Both devices should have Bluetooth enabled; check the current help page for device-specific requirements.
Use a temporary receiving setting when needed, verify the recipient and return to your preferred visibility afterwards. For Android-to-computer or other device combinations, check the supported setup in Google’s Quick Share guide.
Will these tools transfer everything to a new phone?
Sending selected files is different from migrating accounts, app data and an entire phone setup. Decide whether you need a file transfer or a full device migration before choosing a tool. Do not assume that copying an APK also copies its sign-in, chats or saved settings.
How to Uninstall LocalSend
Finish active transfers and open the received files to check your copies first. In Google Play, use profile → Manage apps & devices → Manage, select LocalSend, then Uninstall. Quick Share is a separate system feature; adjust its receiving visibility rather than treating it as LocalSend.
Sources and review scope
This guide uses the official LocalSend listing, download page, project documentation and Google’s Quick Share instructions. It is based on documentation and link checks; no transfer-speed benchmark or hands-on compatibility test is claimed.
