A hidden call recorder cannot be promised to record both sides of every Android call. Start with the recording feature your phone officially supports. Phone by Google provides recording on supported devices and in supported regions, with an announcement to the people on the call.

This page previously recommended Automatic Call Recorder, ACR by Ayago Dev. Its old Play link did not return a listing in our India and US checks. We have not established the reason. The option below is a different product and does not promise secret recording.

Check support before installing another app

Open your existing Phone app and check its settings for Call recording. If you already use Phone by Google, check for updates through its official Google Play listing. Installing the app alone does not guarantee that recording becomes available: the listing limits this feature to some devices with Phone preinstalled.

How to record a supported call

  1. Let the other person know why you want a recording and ask for their agreement. Follow the rules that apply to your situation.
  2. Make or answer the call. On supported non-Pixel phones, use Record on the call screen. On supported Pixels, Google places recording under Call Assist.
  3. Use the recording control to stop, then review the saved call from the Phone app’s call history.

These steps follow Google’s recording instructions. Menu names and availability can differ. The guide is not a test of your device, network or audio quality.

Why a normal voice recorder is different

A voice memo, meeting recording and telephone-call recording are different tasks. An app’s ability to record sound through the microphone does not demonstrate that it can capture the remote person’s call audio. Choose a tool for the task you actually need rather than assuming that a “voice recorder” name establishes call support.

If the supported call-recording control is absent, ask the other person to send key information in writing or take notes with their knowledge. Avoid treating a missing control as a reason to install an unverified APK or grant unrelated access.

Keep recordings you need

Google says its call recordings are stored on the device and are not automatically backed up elsewhere. Deleting the associated call log also deletes its recording. Check and preserve an important recording before clearing history or changing phones, and share it only as appropriate.

Store recordings where you can identify and find them, review what you actually captured, and remove copies you no longer need. A recording file should not be described as complete or usable before you have listened to it.

Reader Recommendation

Use an available built-in recording feature for an agreed conversation. If it is unavailable, a written confirmation may serve your purpose better than a recorder that has not demonstrated compatibility.

How to Uninstall the Old Recorder

Save any recordings you need outside the old app first and check that the saved copies play. Then open Settings → Apps, select the old recorder and choose Uninstall. If you enabled special access for that app, review and turn it off when no longer needed. Do not erase your working Phone app’s data as part of this cleanup.

Sources and review scope

Based on Google’s official Play listing, recording documentation and Android app-removal guidance. No test call or hidden recording was made for this article; the earlier universal compatibility and guaranteed-quality claims have been removed.
